In the framework of the Mediterranean Week of Economic Leaders ASCAME will organize its XXIII General Assembly, which will define the general policies and major lines of action of the Association.
ASCAME was founded on October 1982, as an initiative of the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with its counterparts from different Mediterranean countries; the association is nowadays the main representative of the private sector in the Mediterranean. With a membership of more than 250 Chambers of Commerce and other associated bodies from 23 countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea, ASCAME works with the most important organizations and international institutions, promoting social and economic development of the Mediterranean region, among others, the European Union (EU), the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), the European Investment Bank (EIB), the World Bank, also being present in multiple high-level Euromediterranean workgroups.
