The Technical Scientific Committee (TSC) of the FOSTEr in MED project met in Beirut for a two- day meeting (11th and 12th of June). The event is organized by the Industrial Research Institute (IRI), partner of the project and will take place in the Lebanese University Hadath Baabda
The aim of the project is to transfer innovative know-how in the solar energy field in order to implement and promote Solar Energy latest technologies at a civil society level, in six countries of the Mediterranean area ( Italy, Spain, Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, Tunisia).
The total budget of FOSTEr in MED project is 4,5 million Euro, from which a total amount of 4,05 million is financed by the European Union through the ENPI CBC Mediterranean Sea Basin Program.
ASCAME has an active role throughout all the work packages of the project, and it’s also the leader of the capitalization work package, which consist of the creation of a bridge between strategic projects and the promotion of its synergies in order to ensure the dissemination and implementation of the project.
The purpose of the TSC meeting is to revise and to approve the “Guidelines on new technologies and architectonic integration of solar plants producing renewable energy in existing buildings and in new ones”, which is one of the main outputs of the project. The Guidelines are the starting points for organizing the activities of the second and the third year of the project: awareness-raising activities involving schools student, citizens and administrators and competence transfer activities for university students, designers and installers (SMEs).
During the meeting, it will also be carried out a first round table in order to define the final selection of the public buildings to test the photovoltaic technological solutions and architectural integration. Furthermore, a second round table with local scientific community will take place in order to arrange the presentation and dissemination strategy of the guidelines.
The TSC is composed of 14 members: research institutions, small and medium enterprises delegates and public agencies. Their mission is to create shared expertise in the field of photovoltaic solar technology, transferring common technical capability, and promoting the opportunities offered by solar energy overcoming cultural and legislative barriers within participating Countries. The scientific coordinator of the project is Professor Antonello Sanna, director of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Architecture of University of Cagliari (DICAAR- UNICA, Beneficiary).
