The Mediterranean Week of Economic Leaders (MedaWeek Barcelona) is an iconic conference dedicated to promoting the Mediterranean region worldwide. This event brings together prominent economic and societal leaders and disruptive voices, with the aim to define priorities and shape the Mediterranean’s economic agenda.
The 16th edition of MedaWeek Barcelona will take place from the 16th to 18th November, in a hybrid format, with all forums held face-to-face at the Casa Llotja de Mar, in Barcelona (Spain) and broadcasted online.
In line with this year’s claim “The Time is Now”, MedaWeek Barcelona 2022 will host numerous key sectorial fora dealing with the present and the future of the Mediterranean during troublig times. This edition will be divided into three thematic days:
- The economic outlook in the Mediterranean region (16th of November): providing an overview of the main challenges of the Mediterranean and the industries with innovative solutions. It will start with the 9th Mediterranean Tourism Forum and tackle the sector’s need for change after COVID19. There will also be room for historic sessions in MedaWeek Barcelona, such as the 19th New Africa Development Forum and the 4th Mediterranean Halal Industry Forum. Moreover, the day will be closed with a conference on the role of the Mediterranean regarding food and energy security.
- Mediterranean Digital Economy Summit (17th of November): from digital business to the space industry and blockchain. This second day of MedaWeek Barcelona will gather experts to explore the future of digital technologies and their practical applications across leading industries. It will also hold the Mediterranean Innovation Hub, which will present the groundbreaking EU-funded projects shaping the region and will be a space for business angels and innovators to meet.
- Mediterranean Young Economy Summit (18th of November): set to promote talent and serve as a bridge between skills and the needs of the labour market. The third day of MedaWeek Barcelona will kick off with the 5th Mediterranean Entrepeneurship & Start-up Meeting and will introduce the Mediterranean Education and Talent MedaTalk. Moreover, there will be sessions tackling two key sectors for the employment and competitiviness of young people: the creative industry and sports.
Since its debut in 2006, MedaWeek Barcelona has been jointly organised by the Association of the Mediterranean Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ASCAME) and the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Services and Navigation, with the collaboration of prominent Euro-Mediterranean organisations.
