ASCAME has collaborated in the organization of the launch Conference of the Euromed INVEST project, which will support Business and Investment Partnerships in the Southern Mediterranean.
From the 26th -28th the projects team of ASCAME has attended the launching event of the Euromed INVEST project which was held in the newly constructed Villa Méditerranée, and the Palais de la Bourse of Marseille, seat of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Marseille Provence, where Vice-President Louis Aloccio represented ASCAME in the signature of the Consortium Agreement and welcome address.
During the three days event, ASCAME led the Sector Alliance Committees on Tourism and Transports & Logistics and co-organised the EUROMED Invest Academies, which aim to support capacity building and exchange of experience between Business Support Organisations.
EUROMED Invest project aims at promoting business partnerships and private investments in the Euro-Mediterranean area, contributing to the inclusive economic development of the region. With a total budget of € 5 million, (co-financed by the European Union and the Consortium members), and is led ANIMA Investment Network in partnership with ASCAME, BUSINESSMED, EUROCHAMBRES, Euro-Med Development Center for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (EMDC) Foundation, The German Arab Chamber of Industry and Commerce (GACIC) and the Euro-Arab Business Council for Small and Medium Enterprises (EABC), representing about 500 direct member organizations. The EUROMED Invest project plans to develop more than 125 actions in 28 member countries of the European Union and 10 ENI (European Neighbourhood Instrument) countries (Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine, Syria and Tunisia) during 3 years.
The objective of the project is to support the development of MSMEs in the Euro-Mediterranean market, increase investment and business projects flow and ensure that the EU maintains its leading position as a source of foreign direct investment in these countries.
The project’s general purpose is to support the creation and the international development of MSMEs in the 5 most promising Euro Mediterranean sectors for job creation and economic spillovers: agrifood, transport & logistics, cultural & creative industries, water & green energies and tourism.
EUROMED Invest project includes 127 actions, 15 publications and 3 web platforms implemented over 36 months:
– Workshops, surveys and action plans to draft associated stakeholder representatives in selected strategic sectors,
– Promotional tools to market the South ENPI countries abroad(web portal, directories, business guides;
– Portfolio of 500 international business projects to accompany;
– Matchmaking events for companies, clusters and private investors in the South and Mediterranean pavilions in the major EU trade fairs in selected sectors;
– Masterclasses for young and new entrepreneurs;
– Mentoring programmes for entrepreneurs, businesses, clusters and business supporting organisations to favour joint business projects, co-locations and know-how transfer;
– Capacity building, networking and experience sharing seminars to professionalise and reinforce services for investors, businesses and new entrepreneurs.
