On April 29, ASCAME President, Dr. Josep Santacreu, met with the President of the Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CACI), Mr. Tayeb Chabab. Both institutions highlighted the importance of ASCAME’s role at this crucial moment for the Mediterranean, particularly in the context of the adoption of the Pact for the Mediterranean. The meeting was also attended by the Commercial Counsellor of Algeria at the Embassy in Madrid, Mr. Djamal Habtiche.

President Santacreu expressed his gratitude to Algeria for its participation in the last Executive Committee held in Marseille on April 21, as well as for confirming its membership in the ASCAME Bureau, the highest executive body bringing together ten countries from both shores of the Mediterranean.

During the meeting, the President of CACI invited ASCAME to host an institutional event in Algeria, keeping the door open for its future organization.

In addition, ASCAME, together with the Chamber of Commerce of Barcelona and the Forum d’Affaires Algéro- Espagnol – F2AE, is organizing a business forum in Barcelona on 20 May from 10 am to 12.30 pm. The event titled “Business Opportunities in Algeria” will take place at the Chamber of Barcelona and will present investment opportunities in Algeria following the recent investment law. This forum will be a valuable opportunity to discover real success stories from Spanish companies already operating in Algeria, join a B2B networking space to explore partnerships and new business avenues, and gain practical insights on how to approach one of North Africa’s most promising markets.

Thanks to the involvement of top-level sponsors and collaborators such as Aresbank, Naturgy, ASICOMEX, and EQUIPCERAMIC, this event will bring together the key players of the Hispanic-Algerian ecosystem.

Algeria stands today as one of the region’s most dynamic economies, with growing demand for Spanish products and services. This is a nearby market with strong historical and cultural ties and still significant potential for growth.
