ASCAME promotes the benefits of encouraging a more sustainable lifestyle.
The cluster for internationalization and innovation of Spanish Solar Companies (Solartys), on behalf of the Association of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the Mediterranean (ASCAME), participated from the 12th to the 14th of June in the 10th edition of the Fair of Sustainable Development Ecosí, in Girona, to present the European project Foster in MED (Fostering Solar Technology in the Mediterranean Area – development of solar technology in the Mediterranean).
The European project Foster in MED attended the fair establishing a stand, in which the project and its results have been exposed. During the fair, Solartys was responsible for answering questions from visitors, besides the distribution of promotional material of the project.
The EcoSí Fair of Girona, with over 124 exhibitors, received more than 5500 visitors. The event, allowed local companies and entities to present products and solutions-oriented towards a more sustainable lifestyle. Renewable and photovoltaic energy, smart cities, tourism, food and health were some of the key themes highlighted in this tenth edition.
Solartys and Foster in MED project
During the month of March, after a bidding process organized by ASCAME, Solartys was chosen to be the entity responsible for the dissemination of the benefits of photovoltaics in different national fairs related to the field of energy, based on the results of Foster in MED project.
The Foster in MED project, funded by the European program ENPI CBC MED Cross-Border Cooperation in the Mediterranean, aims to promote the adoption of solar photovoltaic technology in the Mediterranean region, through activities such as seminars for students; courses for specialists and participation in fairs like Ecosí. The project counts on the participation of various local actors in each country involved in the project (Egypt, Lebanon, Tunisia, Italy, Jordan and Spain).
Solartys, cluster for Internationalization and Innovation of Spanish Solar Companies, is a Spanish company founded in 2009. Currently, the group is working with Spanish companies related to the fields of energy efficiency and solar energy. The group plays a key role in promoting the internationalization and competitiveness of its members and it is supported by the Spanish government, the autonomous regional bodies and the European Union. With regard to international cooperation, Solartys works with universities, research centres, businesses and public bodies providing technical advice and also has a key role regarding the promotion of networking in the energy field between stakeholders involved.
The main mission of ASCAME is to promote cooperation between the North and South of the Mediterranean, regional integration, particularly through the consolidation of SME, promotion of key sectors such as solar photovoltaic and defence strategic actors in the region.

Declaration on the Program
The ENPI CBC Mediterranean Sea Basin Programme 2007-2013 is a multilateral Cross-Border Cooperation initiative funded by the European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument (ENPI). The program’s objective is to promote a process of sustainable and harmonious cooperation at the Mediterranean level to address common challenges and promote the endogenous potential. The program supports cooperation projects such as the contribution to the economic, social, environmental and cultural development in the Mediterranean region. The 14 countries participating in the program are Cyprus, Egypt, France, Greece, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon, Malta, Palestine, Portugal, Syria (participation currently suspended) and Tunisia. The Joint Managing Authority (JMA) is the region of Sardinia (Italy). The official languages of the program are: Arabic, English and French (www.enpicbcmed.eu).
