Solartys will be responsible to promote the use of renewable energy through the project FOSTER in Med.

ASCAME has chosen the cluster for the Internationalisation and Innovation of the Spanish Solar Energy companies (Solartys), to carry out formative seminars about photovoltaic Solar Energy. This activity will be developed during this year until the end of December in several technical and secondary schools in Catalonia, in the framework of the European project Foster in MED (Fostering Solar Technology in the Mediterranean Area – Development of Solar Technology in the Mediterranean), funded by the program ENPI CBC MED Cross-Border Cooperation in the Mediterranean.

The first educational centre where this seminar has been carried out was the INS Montmeló, in which students could get a close look to the actions developed by the European project FOSTER in MED in terms of photovoltaic solar energy in the Mediterranean. The following seminars will be held in the School Garbí Pere Vergés of Esplugues de Llobregat the next September.

The formative sessions consist of two parts: one theoretical in which students are informed about the Foster in MED project and about the EU actions carried in the field of the photovoltaic solar energy in the Mediterranean area. The second part of the seminar consists of a practical workshop, in which students have a kit that allows them to build a model of photovoltaic solar panel in order for them to install it in their own schools.

The aim of the activity is to promote the usage of renewable energy through the European project FOSTER in MED, managed by the Association of the Mediterranean Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ASCAME). The dissemination activity will benefit more than 600 students from Catalonia; currently, more than 170 students have received this training.

During the month of March, Solartys was chosen after a bidding process organized by ASCAME, as the entity responsible to promote the benefits of Photovoltaics Solar Energy based on the needs of the project Foster in MED. Solartys will be also responsible to represent the project and its initiatives in several strategic solar fairs, such as the Ecosí Girona Fair, among others.

ASCAME’s main mission is to promote cooperation between the Northern and Southern of the Mediterranean, the regional integration, especially through the consolidation of the SMEs, promoting key sectors such as solar photovoltaic energy and defending strategic actors in the region.

FOSTEr in MED is a project financed for an amount of 4,05 million Euro by the European Union through the ENPI CBC Mediterranean Sea Basin Programme (total amount of 4,5 million Euro). Project partnership is composed by Beneficiary University of Cagliari (UNICA); Association of the Mediterranean Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ASCAME); Promotional Services Centre for enterprises of the Cagliari Chamber of Commerce (CSPI); Confederation of Egyptian European Business Associations (CEEBA); Industrial Research Institute (IRI); Royal Scientific Society (RSS); Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tunis (CCI Tunis); Autonomous Region of Sardinia (RAS).
