Barcelona, 30 October 2015 – ASCAME co-organized the Capitalisation International Seminar in the framework of the MedDiet project, which took place the 29th October 2015 in Tunis. The main outputs of the project were presented, under the high patronage of the Tunisian Minister of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries.
This seminar was organised by INRAT (National Institute of Agronomic Research of Tunisia), in co-organization with ASCAME (Association of Mediterranean Chambers of Commerce and Industry) and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tunis, under the high patronage of the Tunisian Minister of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries, in partnership with UTAP (the Tunisian Union of Agriculture and Fisheries) and in parallel of the SIAMAP (International Exhibition of Agricultural Machinery Agriculture and Fisheries). This project, funded by the European Union under the ENPI CBC MED programme, aims to promote the Mediterranean Diet in the world and to enhance the traditional foods of the region.
During the event, MedDiet partners have presented the outputs of the project in Tunisia and across the Mediterranean. ASCAME, as a project partner in charge of the capitalisation phase, presented how this project has created a network for the promotion of the Mediterranean Diet. In the framework of this project, ASCAME has played a key role in increasing consumer, companies and SMEs awareness about the benefits of the Mediterranean Diet.
In addition, diverse round tables allowed participants to discuss the importance of safeguarding the Mediterranean Diet and its promotion in Tunisia. These roundtables focused on the following topics: Valuing and promoting the Mediterranean Diet at the local level, MedDiet Label for restaurants and on the Mediterranean Diet as an Intangible Heritage of Humanity.
Furthermore, the seminar attended by over 150 people, led to the signature of the Euro-Mediterranean Declaration for Safeguard and Promotion of the Mediterranean Diet. This declaration guaranteed the future continuity of the project and its objectives.
