Barcelona, 14 October 2015 – The Association of the Mediterranean Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ASCAME), together with the Confederation of Egyptian European Business Associations (CEEBA), organized the capitalization conference of EU ENPI CBC MED funded project FOSTEr in MED, last 16th September 2015 at Cairo Marriott Hotel in Cairo.

The event was the occasion to explain the obtained results of the project Foster in MED, in particular, the “Guidelines on building integration of photovoltaic in the Mediterranean”, drafted by the Technical Scientific Committee of the project. The pilots, currently in their implementation phase, were presented as the core of the project and concrete demonstration of building photovoltaic integration in 5 cities of the Mediterranean:  Alexandria (Egypt), Beirut (Lebanon), Cagliari (Italy), Tunis (Tunisia) and Aqaba (Jordan).

This meeting was also a unique occasion to create networks among Mediterranean companies operating in the solar industry in countries such as Italy, Tunisia and Jordan, and share successful experiences and good practices. As Dr Alaa Ezz, Secretary-General of CEEBA, asserted: “This capitalization event is for sharing experiences within the photovoltaic field and this (FOSTEr in MED) project is here to create a replicable project to eventually extend its way across the country”.

As H.E. Moran, EU Ambassador to Egypt expressed during the event, renewable energy is faster growing than fossil and nuclear power”. This clearly highlights the relevance that solar energy is acquiring in the region, which ASCAME is strongly committed to.
