On 15th April, ASCAME President Dr. Josep Santacreu welcomed the new General Consul of Morocco in Barcelona, Ms. Nezha Tahar, at the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce. The meeting offered an excellent opportunity to discuss the strong political, economic, and business relations between Catalonia and Morocco. Today, nearly 200 Catalan companies are established in Morocco, reflecting the depth and potential of this bilateral partnership.

Dr. Santacreu reaffirmed his commitment to further strengthening ties with Moroccan companies in the framework of his ASCAME presidency, through the pivotal role of the ASCAME Chambers of Commerce, the CCIS Tanger–Tetouan–Al Hoceima (CCISTTA), the Chambre de Commerce et d’Industrie de la Région de Souss Massa, and the Federation of Chambers of Commerce of Morocco. Just a few weeks ago, he met with all these institutions, as well as others such as the Tanger Med Port Authority and the Mediterranean Specialised Institute of Management.

During this occasion, Dr. Santacreu also reviewed with CCISTTA representatives the progress of MediTour Agadir 2026, including its agenda, speakers, partnerships, and international outreach. The upcoming edition, to be held from 18 to 20 June under the theme “Sustainable and Innovative Mediterranean Destinations” and co-organised by CCISTTA, aims to strengthen Mediterranean tourism cooperation and accelerate the sustainable transformation of destinations.

As Dr. Santacreu expressed to Ms. Tahar, “We continue working to strengthen Mediterranean cooperation and generate new opportunities for shared growth for Catalan, ASCAME and Moroccan businesses”.
