On the occasion of the Mediterranean Week of Economic Leaders and in the framework of the XXIII General Assembly of ASCAME four institutions received an ASCAME award.
These awards were given in recognition for encouraging the economic development of the Mediterranean Basin by the President of ASCAME, Mr Mohamed Choucair and the Vice-President of ASCAME, Mr Miquel Valls. The Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) received the prize, for promoting business participation and private sector involvement within the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) and ASCAME activities in the Mediterranean region and for creating values that convey a positive image of the Mediterranean, as an area of peace, tolerance and friendship. The UfM Secretary-General, Mr Fathallah Sijilmassi, collected the Prize on behalf of the UfM. The shipping line CMA CGM has been honoured for boosting the economic development in the Mediterranean and promoting connections in our region. The Deputy General Manager, Mr.Jean Yves Perazio, collected the Prize on behalf of Jacques Saadé.
The UNESCO received an award for promoting the tangible and intangible Mediterranean cultural heritage and as a distinguishing value among other countries. On behalf of UNESCO, the Director of the Division for Heritage & World Heritage Centre Culture Sector, Mr Kishore Rao collected the Prize.
The airline Vueling has been honoured for connecting the Mediterranean to the world and boosting our economy in other countries. The airline Vueling is creating values that transmit the image of the Mediterranean of peace and tolerance worldwide. The Head of Corporate Affairs, Mrs Silvia Stivil collected the Prize on behalf of Vueling.
