Project
Sustainable Textile Mediterranean NetworkObjectives
SUSTEXNET is aimed at the establishment of a cooperation network among main textile agents across the Mediterranean basin and to increase competitiveness and sustainability in the whole textile sector. The difference in the environmental treatment and the impact of textile processes between different countries is an important aspect to take into consideration, representing the main objective of SUSTEXNET.
The concept of environmental sustainability and contamination reduction does not affect exclusively the productive process strictly speaking but contemplates a wide range of dimensions such as sustainable conception of the product (eco-design), optimisation of native natural resources and transformation in textile raw materials, optimisation of energy efficiency during all the textile processes, implementation of green logistics and valorisation of industrial wastes (effluents or solid emissions).
