“Mediterranean women entrepreneurship has been a priority for ASCAME since its inception.”
“The 9th Mediterranean Week of Economic Leaders is a wide testimony to justify the dynamic impetus of women entrepreneurs.”
This participation was the occasion to highlight the role of the women entrepreneurs in the Mediterranean as well as their contribution in the economic and political policy decision-making, considering the reciprocal relation between the economic development and the women empowerment.
In this sense, Mediterranean women entrepreneurship has been a priority for ASCAME since its inception, led by the ASCAME Women Entrepreneur Commission. Undoubtedly, the economic development of the Mediterranean would be possible only with the active participation of women, which will be assured by the implication of the decision-makers and the organizational actors, called to rethink the role of women and to encourage a culture of equality and effective citizenship.
These opportunities also contribute to the building of institutional capacities of the financial and not financial service providers to meet the needs of women entrepreneurs, as well as the development of tools and custom-made approaches joining training, financial education and actions to identify and plan the potential growth of the company and strengthen sustainable companies.
Also, it is required to create a gender balance in the decision-making organs of companies so that the businesswomen gain ground, allowing them to overtake the societal attitudes, the social standards and the systematic obstacles which prevent certain women from becoming entrepreneurs.
The ASCAME Women Entrepreneur Commission supports the commitment of the Mediterranean women entrepreneurship, as a basis for a prosperous and sustainable region, assuring the common construction of a society based on the equality of opportunities, where the full participation of the women in the economic and entrepreneurial development of the region is guaranteed.
The 9th Mediterranean Week of the Economic Leaders is a wide testimony to justify the dynamic impetus of women entrepreneurs and the driving role of the women to boost the efforts of the private and public sector, such as the slogan of this edition stipulated: “Together, going further.”
