The Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Navigation of Malaga in Spain chairs the ASCAME Tourism Commission.

Tourism is a major pillar of the Mediterranean economy and represents the first sector in the region, especially due to its geographic location with its pleasant climate and its wide variety of destinations.

The main objectives of the Commission are the following ones:

• Support in the organisation of the ASCAME Mediterranean Tourism Forum (MEDITOUR) and other tourist events in the region.
• Coordination of tourist cooperation projects in the Mediterranean.
• Support to Chambers of Commerce on services and activities to improve the tourist competitiveness.
• Recommendation on the implementation of tourist strategic lines in the Mediterranean.
• Identification of the main challenges of the tourist industry in the region.
• Promotion of the Mediterranean as a common tourism destination of good quality.
