The Rijeka Chamber of Commerce, Croatia, chairs the ASCAME Commission of Logistics & Transport. The Piraeus Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Greece, assumes the vice presidency of this Commission.

In the Mediterranean region, cooperation in the transport sector was intensified after the launching of the Barcelona Process in 1995. Under the new context of the opening up of the market, the levels of mobility in the Euro-Mediterranean area have been increasing very fast, putting strains on the transport systems and generating a need for cooperation aimed at upgrading the Euro- Mediterranean transport network.

The specific objective of the Logistics & Transport Commission is to develop the communication and the cooperation among the actors of the logistics sector in the Mediterranean basin, hence to contribute to the trade volume.
