Barcelona, 7 December 2015 – The Association of the Mediterranean Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ASCAME) has organized B2B meetings between operators of the maritime transport and logistics sector of Lebanon, Italy and France. The initiative, which took place last 30th November to 4th December in Marseille and Cagliari, fallen within the so-called OPTIMED Business Week organized by ASCAME, the Autonomous Region of Sardinia and the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of Beirut and Mount Lebanon (CCIABML).
The Business Week has been developed in the framework of the project funded by the European cross-border cooperation ENPI CBC Med Programme, OPTIMED project, which ASCAME is the capitalization leader of. In the framework of the OPTIMED Business Week, the B2B meetings were the occasion for Lebanese companies of maritime, transport and logistics sector to meet French and Italian companies and create business bonds among the North and the South of the Mediterranean region. During the meetings, diverse networking activities were carried out, such as the visit to the leading company CMA-CGM and the port of Porto Torres.
The B2B meetings are carried out in two separate phases. The first implementation of the B2B carried out in Barcelona (during the Mediterranean Logistics and Transport Forum –SIL- last June 2015) and Marseille-Cagliari this week is intended for Lebanese companies to meet European companies. The second implementation of the B2B, which will be organized by the CCIABML next 11th December, is intended for Italian and Spanish companies to meet Lebanese logistics and maritime operators in Beirut.
The development of the maritime transport and logistics sector in the Mediterranean still needs to be improved in order to ensure more efficient and sustainable trade relations between the northern and south-eastern shores of the Mediterranean Sea.
In this context, ASCAME through the OPTIMED project enhances commercial connections between public and private operators in the maritime transport and logistics sector of diverse Mediterranean countries such as Lebanon, Italy, Spain and France.
