Barcelona, 19 October 2016 – The Mediterranean is today a region in transformation that experiences political and socioeconomic deep changes. Recent events such as conflicts in Syria or Lybia and the refugees’ crisis have put in evidence, first, the strong existing interconnection between both shores of the region and, on the other hand, between the sociopolitical changes and economic processes, being the economy a crucial prop for the stability of any country and, indeed, of the Mediterranean region. For this reason, today more than ever, it is required international platforms to discuss and think over on these uncertainties, as well as the economic opportunities for collaboration in the region. The Mediterranean Week is today the largest annual economic hub in the region.
The 10th edition of the Mediterranean Week of Economic Leaders, organized by the Association of the Mediterranean Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ASCAME), the Chamber of Trade and Industry of Barcelona, the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) and the European Institute of the Mediterranean (IEMed), with the collaboration of diverse regional and international organizations, will take place next November 30, December 1 and 2 in Barcelona. This unique event, which for ten years has brought together more than 15.000 businessmen together with sectorial, regional and international organizations, will be an excellent occasion to know first-hand the economic situation of these countries, their emergent sectors and new business opportunities.
