Barcelona, August 18, 2017 – The Association of the Mediterranean Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ASCAME) strongly condemns the shameful terrorist attacks carried out yesterday in the two Catalan cities of Barcelona and Cambrils, extending our heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and the people of Spain and wishing a quick recovery to those injured.

As a bridge and a reference in the Mediterranean, Barcelona plays a key role in the Euro-Mediterranean process and in the promotion of regional socio-economic development. These priorities cannot be challenged by the threat of terrorism.

In such a critical context, all the Mediterranean countries must stand shoulder to shoulder to fight these attacks and defend the peace and stability of our region.
