Barcelona, 7th of June 2018 – In the framework of the Mediterranean Transport & Logistic Summit (MedaLogistics Summit 2018), a meeting of the ASCAME’s Transport & Logistic Commission gathered ASCAME members, Commission members, and representatives of the Logistic & Transport sector of the North and South of the Mediterranean last 5th of June 2018. The President of the ASCAME Transport and Logistic Commission, Zlatko Mičetić, Vice-President of the Rijeka Chamber of Commerce led the session addressing key upcoming challenges of the sector such as the Mediterranean Corridor.
Highlights of the meeting
During the meeting, the state-of-the-art of the Transport & Logistic sector in the Mediterranean was analyzed, sharing the different points of view from several countries of the region. The Commission discussed the existing best practices and the possibility to replicate them, promoting a social and inclusive sector and enabling sustainable growth and integration of the region. Finally, the members submitted suggestions and propositions regarding the drafting of the Commission’s Work Plan and Program for 2018.
During the meeting, it was also addressed the European Funding Programs of interest for ASCAME members and its potential in the Transport and Logistic sector. The Commission also defined project ideas for the further calls of the European Union and discussed ways to reinforce the Euro Mediterranean collaboration among ASCAME members and trade organizations, while promoting tools and solutions to develop trade in the Mediterranean area.
All parties agreed on the further involvement in the Commission of new important actors of the Transport and Logistic sector on the Mediterranean, in order to add expertise beyond the business element and create positive synergies, among them universities and consulting experts.
The Commission will celebrate its next meeting during one of the ASCAME’s major events in the coming months in order to create further synergies.
