The President of ASCAME, Dr. Josep Santacreu, welcomed Ambassador Fadi Hajali, Secretary General ad interim of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), at the Llotja de Mar in Barcelona on the occasion of a courtesy visit following his recent appointment.

The visit provided an opportunity to reaffirm the longstanding partnership between ASCAME and the UfM, two key and complementary institutions working to advance economic integration, sustainable development, and regional cooperation across the Mediterranean within the framework of the Pact for the Mediterranean.

During the discussions, both sides agreed to strengthen their collaboration further and work closely together on initiatives that promote economic growth, social development, and greater engagement between the public and private sectors throughout the region.

The Secretary General was accompanied by Ambassador Meltem Buyurkarakas, UfM Deputy Secretary General for Economic Development and Employment; Mr. Mohamed El Razzaz, UfM Head of Sector; Mr. Xavier Coronas, Secretary General of the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce; and Mr. Koussay Boulaich, Senior Diplomatic Adviser to the President of ASCAME.

ASCAME looks forward to deepening its cooperation with the Union for the Mediterranean and continuing to contribute, together, to a more integrated, prosperous, and resilient Mediterranean.
