Joining forces to build means making the choice of a full integration in this Mediterranean which unites us all, which brings us together and which constitutes a bridge between us. The market of the Mediterranean countries is growing. The Northern part of the Basin has the expertise and the southern part is rich in natural resources and qualified workforce.

Algeria is firmly committed to renewing with growth with the aim of emerging by 2019. Thanks to its geographic localization, the country appears as an open door towards a Sub-Saharan market of more than 950 million inhabitants with tremendous potential.

The Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CACI) that I chair, as well as the CCI, distributed through all the cities of the Country, are deploying efforts to facilitate the action of investing. Thanks to the reforms implemented, these entities aim to become true “economic facilitators”.

Cooperation between the Mediterranean CCI will enable, without doubt, to develop a favourable framework for investment in the Mediterranean region in favour of sustainable economic growth, profitable for both sides of the Region.

That’s why; I am convinced that ASCAME is a really important tool to bring added value for both Mediterranean sides thanks to cooperation I would like to see increasing.

The current context is ideal for the creation of a Mediterranean economic space. The economic crisis in the North of the region and the processes of changes engaged in the South represent a historic opportunity to boost the North/South investment flow that would strengthen the Mediterranean economic growth.

Nevertheless, it belongs to the North to consider the South not only as a market but rather, as a true partner to build a fair and prosperous environment around the Mediterranean. Whatever the two sides North/South are complementary and united by the Mediterranean.
