MEDA ECONOMIC WEEK 3rd edition of the Mediterranean Week of Economic Leaders Casa Llotja de Mar, Barcelona, 2-6 November 2009 The 3rd edition of the Mediterranean Week of Economic Leaders wants to consolidate as a privileged platform for reflection on the future of the Euro-Mediterranean region and as a meeting point where to make business contacts in key sectors for the economic development of the Mediterranean. “MedAlliance Declaration” signed in Barcelona, 24th April 2009 MedAlliance is the consortium formed by: ANIMA, BUSINESSMED, ASCAME, EUROCHAMBRES and the special partners GTZ, UNIDO and EUROMEDITERRANEE. This consortium leads the EU co-financed Programme “Invest in Med”, a programme that aims to: develop Foreign Direct Investment and trade flows into the Mediterranean region; build sustainable business partnerships on its north and south rims; and promote co-development in the Euro-Mediterranean region. With the occasion of the MedAlliance Board Meeting, held in Barcelona last Friday 24th of April 2009, the consortium signed the “MedAlliance Declaration”. The document calls upon European businesses to consider the Mediterranean countries as an alternative in the actual context of economical crisis.
MedEurope Intern Portal The ASCAME is partner of the MedEurope Intern Portal. This portal aims to facilitate the matchmaking between companies and student from the Mediterranean zone via a web site: www.medeurope-intern.com . This site publishes on line and free of charge, the offers and the requests for internships of Mediterranean companies and students.
UN Global Compact Initiative According to the decision taken during its Executive Committee meeting held in Barcelona, on 11th of November 2008, the ASCAME has joined the Global Compact initiative of the United Nations. The participation in the Global Compact means to share the conviction that commercial practices that are found on globally recognized principals will contribute to the emergence of more open, secure and equitable markets and to the emergence of dynamic and prosperous societies. The Global Compact is a leadership platform offering a unique strategic platform for participants to advance their commitments to sustainability and corporate citizenship. By signing the UN Global Compact, that gathers thousands of participants and stakeholders from over 130 countries our Association is committed to aligning her operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption.
