ASCAME - in the framework of the MedaLogistics Summit - organized two EBSOMED projet actions during this 2-day event; the Transport and Logistics Business Matchmaking Forum and the Sector Alliance Committee (SAC).

The Association of the Mediterranean Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ASCAME) has organised two EBSOMED project actions in the framework of the MedaLogistics Summit, the reference event in the Mediterranean Logistics and Transport sector, held in Barcelona on the 26th and 27th of June. Both EBSOMED activities, the Transport and Logistics Business Matchmaking Forum and the Sector Alliance Committee (SAC) “Towards an Action Plan on Transport & Logistics 2019”, have been a great asset for all attendees.

The first one of the EBSOMED’s activities was the Business Matchmaking Forum, an event that brought together more than 100 participants, representatives of the Mediterranean Business Support Organisations and the private sector, who were interested in networking with other Mediterranean companies from Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Lebanon, France, Italy, Croatia and Greece, among others. Having organized this activity inside a reference summit like the MedaLogistics Summit 2019, has enhanced exponentially the networking possibilities in the sectors of Logistics, Transport, Intralogistics and Supply Chain.

Likewise, the Sector Alliance Committee (SAC) meeting showed a high level of attendance and gathered distinguished speakers from northern and southern Mediterranean countries, who worked at different areas in the Transport & Logistics sectors (aerial, maritime and in land transport sector), at renowned education centres and several relevant companies. The aim of the event was to discuss the key priorities and talk about the niche areas that can add immediate value to regional economy.

The talks served as a basis to determine the main lines of action to build more competitive Transport & Logistics sectors in the Mediterranean economy, as well as give ideas on how to better cooperate within business from both shores.  The outcomes and conclusions from the panels will be reflected in an Action Plan document that will be useful for future activities targeting the sector, promote the share of best practices and help identify experts and institutions with various backgrounds and deep know-how from all Mediterranean countries.

This event is financed under the umbrella of the EBSOMED project, Enhancing Business Support Organizations and Business Networks in the Southern Neighbourhood. It will last 4 years and is co-financed (at 80%) by the European Commission for a total budget of 6 million Euros.

The project, which is an extension of the successful previous projects EUROMED Invest and Invest in Med funded starting in 2008, is coordinated by BUSINESSMED together with ASCAME, GACIC, EUROCHAMBRES, ANIMA and CAWTAR.
