Tourism will also come out of this crisis

Tourism will be one of most affected sectors by the Covid-19 pandemic, since this sector cannot be isolated from the local, national or global context in which it operates. Many jobs are being threatened around the world, especially in the Mediterranean region, because whether it is epidemics, pandemics, war, economic crises or natural disasters, what happens in the environment also affects tourism.


The economic summit of the Mediterranean, Europe and Africa is committed to the energy revolution

Barcelona hosts a new edition of the Mediterranean Week of Economic Leaders (MedaWeek Barcelona 2019) with an eye on sustainability and green energy as pillars for development. Between the 20th and 22nd of November, authorities, businessmen and businesswomen from both shores of the Mediterranean will meet to tackle the economic and social challenges of the region.


The Mediterranean region needs to build 600.000 households annually by 2025

The first edition of the Mediterranean Real Estate Forum, held last Thursday 17th October in Barcelona under the framework of the Barcelona Meeting Point (BMP2019), concluded by putting the focus on the real estate sector as an answer to the population increase, to the new urban lifestyle, to the unemployment rates in the region and to the demands for sustainable development.


ASCAME co-organised the Blue Growth and Green Growth Communities joint event in Brussels

The joint event “Transition towards blue and green economies in the Mediterranean” was organised by both the Blue Growth and the Green Growth Communities Interreg Med on the 19 and 20 September 2019 in Brussels, with the collaboration of ASCAME as member of the Consortium in charge of the Blue Growth Community. An event were participants where encouraged to get involved in Blue and Green Economies sectors and several synergies among Mediterranean projects funded by EU programmes were created.

Times of change, sustainability and reinvention in Mediterranean Tourism

The Association of the Mediterranean Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ASCAME), the German-Arab Chamber of Industry and Commerce, the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce, Confederation of Egyptian European Business Association, organized on the 13th and 14th of July in Alexandria (Egypt) the 8th Mediterranean Tourism Forum (MEDITOUR), and met with its regional partners of the European project EBSOMED. More than 750 participants from 20 countries gathered at a key summit to discuss the new challenges of a strategic sector for the Mediterranean economy: tourism.


ASCAME co-organised the Blue Growth Community Summer School in Montenegro

ASCAME, the Association of the Mediterranean Chambers of Commerce and Industry, organised, together with other sectoral Mediterranean partners, the Blue Growth Community Summer School, under the title ‘Study Blue: Emerging technologies, trends & opportunities’. A meeting that was held in Kotor (Montenegro) between the 1st-5th of July and attended by students from more than 10 Mediterranean countries.

Summer School InnoBlueGrowth

ASCAME – in the framework of the InnoBlueGrowth project – will co-organises the Summer School “Blue Growth: emerging technologies, trends and opportunities” to encourage young people involved in blue economy sectors by offering high-quality technical knowledge and fostering their entrepreneurial spirit. This event will take place from the 1st to 5th of July 2019 in Kotor, Montenegro.


ASCAME co-organised “Strengthening the Science-Practice-Policy Interface in Blue Growth”


ASCAME – in the framework of the InnoBlueGrowth project – took part to the organization of the Blue Growth Event “Strengthening the Science-Practice-Policy Interface in Blue Growth” to gather and to encourage the Mediterranean business community in developing Policy and Education Strategies based on the outputs of the Med Blue Growth Community Projects.
