Mediterranean Women Entrepreneurs met to promote business and investment opportunities

The Women Entrepreneurship and Investment Programme (WEIP) was the occasion to promote women's entrepreneurship in the Mediterranean region, where the proportion of women entrepreneurs is two to three times lower than the world average. Over 70 Mediterranean women entrepreneurs were able to meet to exchange experiences and best practices and explore new business and investment opportunities.

International Women's Day: ASCAME-AFAEMME joint statement

Women entrepreneurs are an increasingly consolidated and present reality in the Mediterranean region. To promote the participation of women in the labour market has a huge impact on the economy and to promote women's entrepreneurship plays an important role in creating active and dynamic economies. The commemoration of the International Women's Day, this year under the slogan "For a Planet 50-50 in 2030", offers the opportunity to reflect the progress made by women entrepreneurs who have had an extraordinary role in the Mediterranean countries and to make an appeal to support the participation of women in the economic sphere.

Over 1,500 entrepreneurs from 32 countries attend the 9th Mediterranean Week of Economic Leaders

Mediterranean women entrepreneurs, the basis for the Mediterranean progress

The Association of the Mediterranean Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ASCAME), in collaboration with the Association of Federations and Associations of Mediterranean Businesswomen (AFAEMME), will organize the 7th edition of the Mediterranean Women Entrepreneurs Forum, which will take place in the framework of the 9th edition of the Mediterranean Week of Economic Leaders, on the 27th November in Barcelona.

ASCAME and AFAEMME met before the VI Mediterranean Women Entrepreneurs Forum which will be held in Thessaloniki

Helena de Felipe, President of the Association of Organizations of Mediterranean Businesswomen (AFAEMME), and Anwar Zibaoui, Coordinator of ASCAME, met on October 23rd in Barcelona in order to follow up the organization of the VI Mediterranean Women Entrepreneurs Forum.

The event will be held in the framework of the Female Entrepreneurial Week, the 13th and 14th of November in Thessaloniki, Greece. This 6th edition of the Meda Women Entrepreneurs Forum is organized by ASCAME, the Association of Organizations of Mediterranean Businesswomen (AFAEMME), the Thessaloniki Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Greek Association of Women Entrepreneurs (S.E.G.E).

This Forum wants to provide Mediterranean Women Entrepreneurs with the opportunity to make business contacts in key sectors for the economic development of the Mediterranean as well as to explain success stories, share good practices and know-how and to analyze the role of women in the development of the region’s economy. Celebrating its 6th edition, the forum offers a permanent platform for dialogue, discussions, sharing of experiences and networking that will bring new business opportunities for women entrepreneurs of the region.

ASCAME and AFAEMME signed a memorandum of understanding last year in the framework of the VII Mediterranean Week of Economic Leaders.

Signature of the Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) with ASCAME

In the framework of the Week, ASCAME (the Association of Mediterranean Chambers of Commerce) has signed four Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with FEMOZA (World Federation of Free Zones), UNIMED (The Mediterranean Universities Union), AFAEMME (The Association of Organizations of Mediterranean Businesswomen) and MEDCITIES (The network of Mediterranean coastal cities), with the aim of encouraging, from the Civil Society, the Union for the Mediterranean, based in Barcelona and creating a joint Mediterranean federations and associations network.
