The forum will include B2B meetings and doing business helpdesks for investing in southern Mediterranean countries

On the 9th -10th of June ASCAME will organize the Mediterranean Logistics and Transport Summit in the framework of the International Logistics and Material Handling Exhibition (SIL 2015), in Barcelona. On the following day ASCAME will organize the annual Ports and Shipping conference for Europe, Middle East and Africa, the 8th Meda Ports Summit.

The 13th edition of the MEDA-Logistic & Transport Forum is a commitment to this sector as a fundamental basis for economic integration, confirming the pioneering vision of this Forum, which has provided the sector with a platform for exchange, business cooperation and reflection since 2003.

Organized by ASCAME, the Consorci of the Barcelona Free Zone and SIL. The forum will be sponsored by the Port of Barcelona and will count on the support of the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce as an institutional partner.

Under the slogan “new ambitions are born”, the forum will focus on issues related to the integration of a single united Mediterranean market; the challenges, opportunities and perspectives for the transport and logistics sector, as well as the Mediterranean railway; the different international projects for the development of the Mediterranean; the Gulf and the Mediterranean and Strategic Partners and the Meda-Logistics & Transport roadshow.

20 years after the launch of the Barcelona Process, the necessary mechanisms to accelerate the terms for the entry into force of the Euro-Mediterranean Association are being put in place. Initiatives such as pokies online the Trans Mediterranean Transport Network (TMN-T) underline how the transport and logistics sector is considered a priority economic pillar and an important factor for this integration.

In the frame-work of the EUROMED Invest and OPTIMED projects, the Meda Logistics & Transport Roadshow will promote the South ENPI countries together at SIL 2015, organizing a MED Pavilion and B2B meetings for visiting SMEs from the southern and eastern Mediterranean.

The EUROMED Invest project is co-financed by the European Commission, and is one of the main European programs aimed at stimulating trade and investment relations in the Euro-Mediterranean area.

The OPTIMED project – Rationalising Mediterranean Sea Ways: from Southern-Eastern to Northern-Western ports – is co-financed by the European Union through the ENPI CBC MED programme and aims improving commercial connections in transport and logistics between public and private operators of Lebanon, Italy, Spain and France.

The event will see businesses from Lebanon and Egypt from the transport and logistics sector meet Spanish and European counterparts.
