This report summarizes the activities carried out by the Association, in close connection with the Strategic Plan 2018-2022 set up by the Presidency of Ahmed M. El Wakil, aimed at promoting the socio-economic development of the Mediterranean region. You can note how important it is for the Association to work for the promotion of its member’s activities within the ASCAME network and allow them to interact more easily. To fulfil its various missions, ASCAME has developed more modern and responsive tools to continue broadening horizons.

In this Activity Report, you will find all the institutional meetings of ASCAME, such as the statutory meetings of the Executive Committee, the various sectoral work commissions of the Association, as well as the institutional meetings with senior government representatives and with multilateral and international organizations. Other type of activities can also be found in the document, such as the signing of Memoranda of Understanding, with the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (CCAB) or the North-South Economic and Cultural Development Agency (ADC-NS), and the participation of ASCAME in various workshops and conferences like the UfM Campus initiative, the UfM Med4jobs, the Barcelona Euro-Med Forum organized by Caixa and IEMed, or the 65th General Assembly of the Ibero-American Association Chambers of Commerce (AICO).

The MedaLogistics Summit took place on 5-6 June 2018 in the framework of the International Logistics Fair (SIL Barcelona), and presented the latest news and business opportunities in the logistics, transport and shipping sectors.

The MedaWeek Barcelona, an event that aims to position the Mediterranean as the link between the continents of Europe, Africa and Asia, advocates every year for the socio-economic development in the Mediterranean. The MedaWeek Barcelona 2018 edition brought together more than 1,500 participants thanks to the numerous thematic forums on key topics in the region. Apart from these, ASCAME has also co-organized several events, such as the 3rd Egypt Investment Forum, the 1st EU-Egypt Sustainable Energy Bussiness Forum, and the 10th Mediterranean Women Entrepreneurs Forums in different countries of the Mediterranean region.

This volume also includes the activities of many European projects in which ASCAME has been deeply involved: EBSOMED, InnoBlueGrowth, HOMERe, BleuTourMed and 4Helix +, and newly approved projects. These allow the Association to increase its visibility with international organizations and governments, particularly with the support of the European Union.

Finally, the information concerning marketing and communication strategy, coming from the 2018-2022 Strategic Plan, is explained and summarized and gives a glimpse on the concrete implementation of the strategy promoted by the ASCAME Presidency.
